*Przypomnienie:

Żeby utworzyć stopień wyższy krótkich przymiotników (mających 1 albo 2 sylaby) dodajemy końcówkę -er,  a żeby utworzyć stopień najwyższy, dodajemy wyraz "the" i końcówkę -est.

Jeśli krótki przymiotnik kończy się na -e, dodajemy samo -r albo -st (safe - safer - the safest). 
Jeśli kończy się na -y, zamieniamy to na -ier albo -iest (friendly - friendlier - the friendliest). 
Jeśli kończy się na samogłoskę + spółgłoskę, dodajemy drugą taką samą spółgłoskę i dopiero wtedy -er albo -est (big - bigger - the biggest).

Żeby utworzyć stopień wyższy długich przymiotników (niektórych 2-sylabowych i mających więcej sylab), dodajemy przysłówek "more", a żeby utworzyć najwyższy, dodajemy "the" i przysłówek "most" (beautiful – more beautiful - the most beautiful).

Niektóre przymiotniki mają formy nieregularne. Trzeba się ich nauczyć na pamięć:

 - good - better - the best
 - bad - worse - the worst
 - much - more - the most
 - little - less - the least
 - far - further - the furthest
